AU Musical Events: Concerto & Aria Competition

The coming weeks are rich with exciting musical events on our campus, and this one may be my personal favorite! An annual AU tradition, the AU Concerto & Aria Competition is an exciting event open to all AU students. For those who don’t know how it works, any student can enter the competition and perform a concerto or aria for a panel of judges. If they make it through the preliminary round, they return the next night for the final round. The winner of the competition is then selected to perform their concerto of choice with the AU Symphony Orchestra later in the spring.

I love this competition because it’s a great opportunity for AU’s musicians to pay homage to favorite showcases of their instruments, as well as an exciting chance to take their passion to the next level and perform with the orchestra.

Round 1 is happening on Saturday night, February 15th at 7 pm, and the final round comes on Sunday the 16th at 3 pm. Another reason I love this event: It’s free! Going down in the Abramson Recital Hall in Katzen. Come see some talented students display their love for their instruments and the music composed for them!
