Cool DC Events: Moon Hooch @ 9:30 Club

It’s Thursday evening, but we’re all thinking about Friday, and thus, the weekend. What are you going to do this weekend, music library readers? Here’s one idea:

Moon Hooch, a highly interesting trio, is coming to the 9:30 club on Saturday, 10/12 at 8. They’ll be opening for your favorite ’90s rock/kid’s music band They Might Be Giants.

Yes, quite interesting. Two saxophones and a drummer comprise the trio. Furthermore, they don’t play what you’d usually expect from saxophonists. What they DO play is a style of music commonly known as EDM (electronic dance music): electro, techno, trance, dubstep, etc., except they do it with their saxophones! That and a seriously grooving drummer. I’ve heard it, and it’s wild. If you want to get down while witnessing possibly the most unique use of saxophones since Ascension, get on over to the 9:30 club!

And, if you’re busy Saturday night, fear not! They’re also coming to American University’s very own WVAU studio, located in MGC, to record an in-studio performance on Saturday. How cool is that?

Tickets for the TMBG/Moon Hooch show are $32. Event page right here:
