Staff Picks!

In honor of John Cage’s 100th birthday (on September 5th) I have selected two scores as part of my staff picks:

Works for Prepared Piano and Toy Piano — John Cage — M22.C34 T36 2004

4′ 33″: For Any Instrument or Any Combination of Instruments — John Cage — M1470. C34 F66 1960

Alex Witt can play 4’33” wonderfully.  It is quite possibly the best work for trombone I’ve ever heard.

John Adams Doctor Atomic Symphony — John Adams — CD 9695
For anyone who didn’t know, I am obsessed with Doctor Atomic, whether it is a symphonic arrangement or the actual opera, I love it.

Don Giovanni — W. A. Mozart — DVD 116
Washington National Opera is producing Don Giovanni this season and everyone should go see it! It’s going to be great!

Elvis Presley — Elvis Presley — DVD 168
Recently, I’ve been on an Elvis kick.  I can’t get enough Elvis!
